Deep tissue massage is widely used to treat musculoskeletal issues. Similar to sports massage, it can be used to treat strains and sports injuries, pain, stiffness, injuries, and fatigue. During a deep tissue massage, I use fingertips, knuckles, forearms, and elbows to focus on the areas that require treatment. This massage is best for the patients suffering from back and muscle pain or problems, desk workers, sportsmen, and treating incorrect postures.
A common misconception I see clients in my Manchester salon, make is that Deep Tissue means firmer pressure, when this is not always the case. Deep refers to the depth within the muscle that is being targeted. It is entirely possible to have a firmer pressure Swedish Massage than a Deep Tissue massage, the difference lies within the technique. Here's 10 Reasons you may need a Deep Tissue Massage: 1- Treats Muscle Pain: Beneficial for those suffering from muscle pain. It helps infuse the blood flow in the muscles that reduces pain and stiffness. 2- Increases Flexibility: If you find your stiff and achy, deep tissue massage helps release the knots in the muscles, increasing flexibility and mobility. 3- Reduces Stress: Feeling stressed from work? Massage helps raise the levels of oxytocin hormone and reduce the cortisol levels in the body. 4- Relieve the symptoms of Arthritis: Deep Tissue Massage is also used to treat symptoms of Arthritis. Pain, stiffness of muscles, and sleeping disorder can be treated through this technique. 5- Improved Injuries recovery: Applying pressure on the injured area can reduce the visibility of forming a scar. Deep tissue massage can help reduce the formation of scars by breaking down adhesions in the tissue. 6- Helps with Pain During Pregnancy: Often clients are surprised that they can still have deep tissue massage during pregnancy. This is possible in low risk pregnancies after the first trimester, provided suitable mitigations are in place to accommodate. 7- Lowers Blood Pressure: Deep tissue massage has also been proven to lower the blood pressure of the body, great for those suffering high blood pressure. 8- Improves Posture: A lesser-known benefit of this massage is that it improves the posture of the body through the stimulation of the musculoskeletal system 9- Enhances Sports Activities: By improving blood flow and reduces muscle soreness, deep tissue massage has been known to improve athletic performance. 10- Helps with Fibromyalgia: Studies have found that the patients living with fibromyalgia may find relief with massage therapy when suitably performed by a qualified massage professional.
